The MASS Barrier is a high quality, attractive, durable and above all, a reliable vehicle restraint system that stands out amongst it’s competitors and is used to improve public and workforce safety.
The barrier can be used in conjunction with four types of fence or hoarding panels. Additional accessories are available such as; corner base units which allow the system to be assembled through 180 degrees, Cylindrical Buffer Ends, or any of the four top units below…
The four top units are:
- ScreenGuard – a hoarding panel to provide site privacy
- SiteGuard – an anti-climb galvanised mesh fence to offer high security for the site, workers and the public
- Pedestrian Guard – high visibility pedestrian rails to improve public and pedestrian safety
- VisiRail Guard – Complies with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Sign Manual
Corner Base Units are also available and the Cylindrical Buffer Ends act as crash cushions and allow a tidy finish to the system.
With safety in mind, the MASS Barrier has been tested to T2 W5 crash speeds of 80Km/h and calculated to withstand reasonable wind speeds with force. Further to this, the barrier accommodates 90-degree bends and has also been fully tested for vehicle containment under BS EN1317-2:1998.
Due to the barrier having been manufactured from hot dip galvanised steel plate and a protective powder-coated finish, this provides significant strength of the MASS Barrier, which as a result, maximises the product’s life. Unlike cones, plank systems and water filled barriers, the Mass Barrier uses the weight of the vehicles to restrict the deflection of impact!
This MASS Barrier is extremely quick and easy to assemble through its unique plug-in section and can also be easily stored and transported. Lastly for installation, 2 people are required and connection can be made within minutes with vertical pins. Terminal anchorage is achieved with a steel buffer filled with sandbags, which requires no need for the base to be fixed to a road.
Need to knows
A risk assessment should be taken prior to use and for wind loading when using the top sections.
It is recommended to install the base units when the barrier is installed on a flat and even surface. This aids the installation of the top sections later.

Connectivity
The MASS Barrier is connected by simply slotting the male end into the female end and then attaching the top sections if required.
Handling & Storage
Gloves should be worn when handling this product. We deliver to site in pre-wrapped packs with pallets incorporated and banded with polyester strips, to safely transport and store using mechanical equipment. This may vary for some products.
