Initially, the Flooring Paper helps to prevent damage by providing a soft, cushioned surface for the flooring material to rest on.
A second layer can help to reduce noise.
Carpet and other flooring materials can be noisy, and flooring paper can absorb some of the sound waves. A third layer helps as an insulation barrier between the subfloor and the air, to keep heat in during the winter and cool air in during the summer.
